Israel has issued the largest evacuation order since Tel Aviv resumed its operation against Hamas following the collapse of the ceasefire deal, sweeping Rafah and neighboring Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military warned that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are “returning to intense operations to dismantle the capabilities of the terrorist organizations” in the area, according to a BBC report, and ordered the people to evacuate Rafah and Khan Younis right away and relocate to the al-Mawasi humanitarian zone.

On January 19, Israel and Hamas signed a ceasefire agreement that put an end to fighting for roughly two months. On March 18, Israel resumed its offensive against Gaza, claiming that Hamas had rejected a new US proposal to extend the ceasefire and release the 59 hostages still in Gaza.

The United Nations claims that because Israel has prevented humanitarian aid from reaching Palestine, food and medical supplies for Gaza’s 2.1 million residents have been stalled since March 2.

According to a previous study by the Gaza-run health ministry, the conflict, which began in October 2023, has claimed more over 50,000 lives.
